Hello,

I am Professor Geum-seon Han from the College of Nursing at Korea University, serving as the 26th president of the Korean Academy of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing for the years 2024-2025.

Thanks to the dedication of past presidents and executives, as well as the interest and support of our members, the Korean Academy of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing has grown into a prestigious society with a 50-year history. Recently, social problems related to mental health issues such as acute and chronic mental illnesses, trauma, and addiction have been increasing, highlighting the importance of the roles and responsibilities of psychiatric health academics and nurses.

Our academy holds biannual academic conferences (spring and winter) to expand the field of psychiatric nursing and demonstrate core competencies as experts. We also publish our official academic journal, the 'Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing,' four times a year. Additionally, we conduct workshops and clinical practice training projects reflecting the needs of our members, and establish special committees to address key issues in the field of psychiatric nursing. To enhance the research capabilities of our members, we provide research funding biennially.

Going forward, the Korean Academy of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing will continue to build upon the achievements of past executives and members, focusing on more advanced nursing research and education with the new executive team. We will also strive to grow and develop by reevaluating our roles and missions. Through various activities, we aim to share educational experiences and research results among members, improve academic outcomes, and contribute to the advancement of nursing education and practice. Lastly, we intend to build a network for developing and exchanging principles of mental health nursing suitable for the new era.

We ask for your encouragement and support for the activities of the executive team for the development of the Korean Academy of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, and we request the active participation and support of our members.
