Purpose: The objective of this study is to verify the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia(CBT-I) on

insomnia severity, dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep, impulsiveness, and motivation to change among

patients with alcohol use disorder who are hospitalized. Methods: This study employed a one-group pre-posttest

design. The experimental group consists of 20 hospitalized patients with alcohol use disorder. The experimental

group received CBT-I once a week for 70 minutes over a period of five weeks. Results: The findings of this study

provided significant support for the hypotheses concerning insomnia severity (Z=-2.06, p=.040), dysfunctional beliefs

and attitudes about sleep (Z=-2.05, p=.040), and stage of change readiness and treatment eagerness (Z=-2.05,

p=.041). However, the hypothesis concerning impulsiveness was rejected, as it did not demonstrate statistical

significance (Z=-1.07, p=.286). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that CBT-I is an effective intervention

for reducing sleep disturbances, sleep-related dysfunctional beliefs, and alcohol-related problems. CBT-I is

recommended as a sleep intervention and non-pharmacological approach for patients with alcohol use disorders.
